Napoleon 6th graders have been attending 4-H Camp Palmer since 1975. Check out this link for an overview of their successful program.
Outdoor Education
Archery

Students will learn the techniques of shooting a bow and arrow safely.  Students are encouraged to coach and listen to each other as they develop a new skill.

Fire Building and Campfires

Working together cooperatively, students will build a fire to "survive".  Participants will evaluate their contributions to a common goal.  Tie this lesson together with reading the book Hatchet. Campfires also make an excellent addition to an evening program.

Herpetology
Camp has a collection of reptiles and amphibians to touch and see. Learn the basic about turtles, frogs and snakes.  Students will experience the animals at their own comfort level.
Canoeing

Experience canoeing on beautiful Harrison Lake located at Harrison Lake State Park adjacent to 4-H Camp Palmer.

Wetlands

Get down and touch, see and learn about life in the "wetlands". Study insect life stages and the animals that make up this ever-changing environment.  Wet and muddy.

Rope Making
Learn the art of making a three strand rope using simple machines. Basic math skills of division, pacing and estimating can be incorporated into this class.
